As we celebrate Pure West's 5th Anniversary, we also celebrate our GM Alexandra Seijo's 5 years with Pure. Read below to see how Pure has impacted her life. If you have a story you would like to share, please post and hashtag #pureyoganyc to share your Pure story.
In celebration of Pure West's 5 year anniversary, I wanted to take time to reflect on my personal experience with Pure. December 2009, I started my Yoga journey when I was given a three day pass to Pure East. After my third class, I was sold, not because of the nice locker rooms, the pre-set mats, pretty blankets or even by the friendly staff. I was sold because I had never felt so good in my life as I did after my first Vinyasa class at Pure. Yoga changes people from the inside out and from that day on I knew I had found a happiness I didn't even know I was looking for.
I became a Pure member, and the rest is history. In September 2010 I applied to a front desk position. In Spring of 2011 I took my first teacher training and that Summer, I did a Mentorship and started teaching twice a week. In fall of 2012 I started as a Yoga Advisor, and started teaching at Pure. Now, five years after my first experience with Pure, I have taken on the role as General Manager at Pure Yoga West.
If you had told me 5 years ago that this was my path, I would have laughed. I was an actor, a waitress, a law firm assistant on Wall Street. I wasn't a yogi, I wasn't a teacher and I certainly could not manage a studio. Yet here I am, seeking to serve the members in a community that I couldn't be more in love with!
You, our members, and how we have all been changed by this place are what inspires me. I hope you join me this Saturday as we celebrate 5 years of this amazing studio and community.
